The Department of Sociology is looking for undergraduate student moderators to lead discussion groups in a Fall 2017 Themester course titled, "The Welcoming Campus: Diversity, Difference, and Inclusion at IU Bloomington." The course will meet four consecutive Sunday afternoons during the second 8-week session (2 p.m.-5 p.m., beginning October 22). Students in the course will engage in moderated discussions about what it means to be a welcoming campus, evaluate how welcoming IUB is, and develop recommendations for the campus. Moderators will participate in a 4-hour training, and will lead discussion groups during class sessions. Experience in debate, facilitation, or mediation a plus but not required. Roughly 20 hours of work total. Course credit available through Sociology; some hourly funding available as well.
