"As leaders of the Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) program, we help lead IU’s Big Ten Voting Challenge, a coalition of students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders committed to voter registration, voter turnout, and non-partisan voter education. The 2020 effort took place in a year unlike no other election year. Not only did physical distancing requirements restrict opportunities for direct engagement, we were also burdened by the weight of a pandemic, political turmoil, mental health challenges, a changing climate, and a nation struggling with a legacy of racial injustice. For our campus community, the election was not just about choosing new political leaders, but an opportunity to summon our common humanity in hope of creating a better world."
