PACE welcomes our new Assistant Director, Mark Fraley

Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Hello members of the PACE community!

I am thrilled to join the PACE team as the new Assistant Director and Academic Specialist.   I have been deeply committed to political and civic engagement throughout my adult life.  I started my career in 2002 as a political and community organizer in St. Louis. Later, I helped form the Illinois chapter of Center for Justice and Democracy, an organization that works to preserve individual’s access to the courts through legislative relations and strategic communications.  In 2007, I worked as a public policy consultant in Washington state, where I managed a successful statewide campaign to approve a ballot initiative that holds insurance companies accountable to policy holders.  Since moving to Bloomington in 2010, I have served on several non-profit boards, taught classes on politics in prisons throughout the state, and have been deeply engaged in state and local politics.  Until joining the PACE team this semester, I worked as the Assistant Director for the Liberal Arts & Management Program (LAMP) and taught courses on lobbying and public advocacy for SPEA. I am eager to serve students who are passionate about deliberative democracy and civic engagement. I look forward to getting to know everyone in the PACE community!
